Background information
Community Socio- Environmental Organization (COSEO).
Community Socio- Environmental Organization (COSEO) (formerly Koibatek Socio-Environmental Organization) is a community-based organization in Kenya, Baringo County. It was initiated and registered in 2005. COSEO is an umbrella organizational of 5 groups and 15 individual members. Out of the 5 groups 2 are women groups and 1 youth group. It has 72 active members.

COSEO bring together through partnership and collaboration different stakeholders, youth, women, and self-help groups, NGO’s and government agencies with the aim of achieving its vision of having healthy, peaceful and dignified society with a protected and sustainable environment in Baringo county and beyond. Its operations are guided by 3 main values; Respect for environment, Transparency and accountability and Respect of human rights. COSEO is governed by 13 board members. The Board issues the policy guidelines of the organization. The board has a defined code of conduct and governing manual. The existing constitution guides and regulates organization’s operations. The organization operates 2 bank accounts and maintains financial records like cash book, payment vouchers, ledger book and other acceptable financial records.
Since inception COSEO has initiated and implemented several projects solely or with the support of other partners. This has enabled it to gain a wealth of experience social development, sustainable environmental conservation and project management.
